When your company is in charge of a big event, be it a short term convention, trade show booth or festival or a more permanent production such as a museum exhibit, gallery display or theme park ride, customer feedback is even more critical to improving the experience and managing the large volume of people flowing through the venue space. Such information is also critical when it comes to showing executives and investors or donors the return on the investment — both to justify the use of resources and ensure those resources for future events.

Gathering feedback from customers is currently multi-fold. First is prediction and adjustment based on past experience, be that ticket sales, attendance counters, scanning badges at trade show booths or observable cues from customers such as crowded booths or loud cheers. Next is direct customer feedback, from weeding through complaints, to conducting on the site surveys or asking all attendees to fill out a  comment card. Some go as far as outsourcing to online survey companies to send e-mail blasts in hopes that some customers will take the time to fill out a 20-page survey, only to be abysmal response rates. Paid focus groups may get a bit better response and more qualitative data, but no where near the mass assessment you need.
